Ireland heavyweights to do battle for prestigious award after shortlist announced

Bundee Aki, Dan Sheehan and Jamison Gibson-Park are the contenders for the Men's XVs Players' Player of the Year at next week's Rugby Players Ireland awards.Connacht's Aki and Leinster pair Sheehan and Gibson-Park have made the shortlist for the award on the back of their performances for their provinces this season, and their displays for Ireland in the World Cup finals and a successful Six Nations.Back rows Aoife Wafer and Brittany Hogan, along with scrum-half Aoibheann Reilly, are in the running for the Women's XVs Players' Player of the Year - the trio started in all of Ireland's Six Nations games as third place was secured, guaranteeing a place at next year's World Cup and also the top division of WXV in the months to come.
