Pollard back with Premiership club

Handre Pollard has returned to full training with the Leicester Tigers as the Springbok flyhalf steps up his comeback before the World Cup. Part of the three big omissions from the World Cup squad, Pollard was left out of South Africa’s 33 due to a calf injury. WATCH: Rassie ambushes World Rugby Pollard travelled with the Springboks to the UK for the World Cup warm-ups as part of the standby list, leading to speculation that he could be a late inclusion in the squad. There has been talk that the Springboks could yet include their 2019 World Cup general in their title defence, which Jacques Nienaber had to downplay before the team left South African shores. While Nienaber confirmed that Pollard was in a “return-to-play” phase of his recovery, the 29-year-old played no part in the fixtures against Wales and New Zealand. Pollard has since returned to his club, Leicester Tigers, and was photographed during a training session on Tuesday.
