According to a report from theHerald Live, a frantic episode unfolded at a Kariega bottle store when Griquas prop, identified as Kudzwai Dube, allegedly “stabbed a man” during a shocking tirade.

The report further states that he “allegedly knocked bottles of liquor off the shelves, threw a security guard's phone into a fridge, and stabbed a man before stripping naked”.

Apparently the entire incident last as long as three hours, only coming to an end when police managed to apprehend Dube and take him into custody.

Kudzwai Dube was involved in another controversy last year

Dube has been with Griquas since 2002 and featured for the Junior Springboks in 2019.

In a Currie Cup clash against the Griffons last year, he was sent to the sin bin in the second half after an altercation with an opposing player.

According to Media24, the young prop was also guilty of spitting in the face of a Griffons player.

“From our side, we felt that there had been provocation,” head coach Pieter Bergh said at the time.

“He was spat on first and then retaliated in the heat of the moment. It’s simply not his character to do something like that with malicious intent. He’s never even been shown a red card in his career to date.

“We firmly believe he was provoked and I hope that has an influence on the verdict.”
