Bulls switch Moodie to midfield

Canan Moodie will start at outside centre for a rotated Vodacom Bulls side in the URC clash with Dragons in Newport on Saturday.

Jake White made eight changes to his starting lineup from the side that faced the DHL Stormers in Pretoria two weeks ago.

The Vodacom Bulls will have a fresh centre pair as David Kriel and Stedman Gans are rested, with the experienced Harold Vorster linking up with Moodie in midfield.

It will be Moodie’s first appearance of the season at outside centre for the Bulls, a position he filled for the Springboks at the 2023 World Cup.

Veteran fullback Willie le Roux returns to the starting lineup after playing off the bench against the Stormers. Sebastian de Klerk starts on the right wing, while Kurt-Lee Arendse is the only back to retain his number from the clash at Loftus Versfeld.

Scrumhalf Zak Burger and flyhalf Chris Smith form the halfback combination, with Embrose Papier and Johan Goosen rotating to the bench.

There are just two changes to the pack, as Mpilo Gumede comes in for Reinhardt Ludwig and Jan-Hendrik Wessels replaces Johan Grobbelaar.
