It's very easy to talk, but can the 2025 British and Irish Lions really deliver the greatest Test performance in the touring side's 137 year history?

From what we've seen so far against under-funded and depleted Australian Super Rugby sides, the answer would be a hard no.

However, the Test series against the Wallabies is a different beast entirely and Saturday will be judgement day for the 2025 Lions.

But would a 3-0 series win really elevate the current Lions ahead of the famous 1971 team that won a first series in New Zealand with players who became legends like Barry John and Gareth Edwards?

Would whitewashing the Wallabies really be a greater achievement than staying unbeaten in South Africa in 1974? Would a series win be better than the 2-1 test triumph of the iconic 1997 Lions in South Africa?

According to 20–year-old Pollock, the answer is a resounding yes which will surprise some fans and former Lions.

Then again, he is very young and caught up in the excitement of his first Lions tour so maybe he can be cut some slack.

Pollock said: "Yeah, 100 per cent. We want to come here and be the best Lions team ever. We’ve been talking about that loads and yeah, 3-0 is definitely on the table, hopefully."

Pollock was just eight years old when the British and Irish Lions last won a test series, and there is only one member of the 2025 touring party who featured in that monumental 2-1 victory over the Wallabies in 2013 – Owen Farrell.

Farrell became a four-time Lion when he came off the bench in the 48th minute of Saturday's one-sided 48-0 thumping over the invitational AUNZ XV in Adelaide, producing a classy display which seemingly vindicated Andy Farrell's decision to bring his son into the squad in place of the injured Elliot Daly.

Farrell will forever be immortalised in Lions history for the way he saved the 2017 series in New Zealand, kicking a clutch long-range penalty in the 78th minute to tie the series.

And Pollock, who watched the 2017 tour as a child, admitted that the opportunity to play alongside Farrell for the Lions is still quite surreal.

He said: "I probably would have been 12.

“I remember watching him and as I said, he’s an amazing player and having his experience here is only a credit to him.

“He’s just given 100 per cent to the team and he’s been on top of everything, which is kind of what you want from him.

"It’s still quite cool but at the same time, in this environment, we’re all striving for the same thing. We want to come here and dominate as a team and he’s been amazing

"He had a little chat to me. He’s so experienced in this game and this kind of environment and [yesterday], to be able to bring him off the bench and have his experience and his words has been amazing. You can definitely see that on the pitch.

"We’ve had a few conversations. Just talking about normal stuff I guess. He’s obviously got kids, so we talk about his kids but I’m sitting there going, ‘I’m still 20’."
