Two sons of 2003 Rugby World Cup winner Kyran Bracken, will both be playing for Saracens tonight in a pre-season friendly. Sarries take on Championship club Bedford Blues this evening (19:45 KO, Goldington Road), with Charlie and Jack Bracken both ready for involvements off the bench for the North London club.

Charlie is the eldest son of the Bracken household, with the 20-year-old steadily progressing into the Saracens senior academy. Following in his father’s footsteps, Charlie Bracken is a prolific scrum half, and made his debut for Saracens against Wasps, in the 2021 Premiership Rugby Cup.

Bracken has previously played at Goldington Road whilst on loan with Championship side Ampthill. Bracken took hold of the nine jersey for the fiercely contested Bedfordshire derby earlier this season, and marked the occasion with a try in the fourth round of the Premiership Rugby Cup. Ampthill came away on the losing side of the 24-19 score-line, with Bracken eager to return the favour with a win tonight with Saracens.

At 18-years-old, Jack Bracken has very recently emerged onto the scene, following his break-through performances with the England U20s. Jack is the middle child of Kyran’s three sons, with youngest son Lachlan a rugby prospect in his own right as he progresses through his school years. Jack Bracken has stepped outside of the scrum half lineage, and is instead pursuing a career in the 15 shirt, with sporadic appearances upon the wings sprinkled in as well.

Jack Bracken was apart of the England U20 squad that won the 2024 U20 World Championship in South Africa, in which he marked his debut with a stunning hat-trick of tries in the opening pool stage match against Argentina. Jack Bracken spoke with Ruck in an exclusive interview back in June, about his experiences on the triumphant U20s tour, and how his father and brother are constant inspirations to his own rugby career.

The two Bracken brothers are chomping at the bit for explosive involvements off the bench, with father Kyran set to be in attendance down at Bedford to watch his boys. This match is Saracens’ first of two pre-season fixtures, with Welsh club Scarlets set to travel down to the StoneX Stadium for a friendly clash on Friday September 13th (19:00 KO).
