Leicester Tigers sign controversial international star to replace departing Handre Pollard

At the end of the season, a Super Rugby Pacific star is expected to sign with the Leicester Tigers. The Telegraph reports that James O’Connor, a flyhalf for the Crusaders and Wallabies, has accepted a one-year contract with Leicester after declining an offer from Racing 92, a French Top 14 team. Handre Pollard, who returns to the Vodacom Bulls after playing for the Tigers in Saturday’s English Premiership final against Bath at Twickenham, will be replaced by the 34-year-old, who has 64 Test caps. O’Connor is still available for selection by the Wallabies and would join Leicester in August if selected for the Lions Test series.
