After a fierce bidding war involving seven proposals from six cities, European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) has handed the 2027 Finals to Lyon's state-of-the-art 59,186-seater, OL Stadium – home of Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyonnais.
With a track record of hosting global showpieces including matches from the 2023 Rugby World Cup and the 2024 Olympics, it's fair to say the venue is no stranger to the big stage.
Dominic McKay Hails "World-Class" Host
EPCR chairman Dominic McKay was full of praise for the successful bid:
"We are delighted Lyon will host the 2027 Finals weekend. With such strong global interest and an incredibly high standard across all bids, it was no easy decision – but Lyon stood out. The OL Stadium is truly world-class."
He added:
"French rugby is thriving, and Lyon is right at the heart of that movement. It's a top-tier sporting city with culture, food, and a passion for the game that's second to none."
