Steven Kitshoff is being fueled by the potential of winning an unprecedented third World Cup title in a row and helping the DHL Stormers claim more success.

Kitshoff has been a key member of both of the Springboks’ World Cup wins in 2019 and 2023, but will be 35 years old when the next tournament takes in Australia in 2027.

Despite having two World Cup gold medals, and a Vodacom URC winners medal, in his collection, Kitshoff told Netwerk24 that his fire for more success still burns brightly.

“That’s what motivates me to get up every morning and keep working,” Kitshoff told Netwerk24.

“It’s always in the back of my head, to be fit and strong enough to make another World Cup. I want to accomplish this and leave a good legacy at the Stormers.”

Having led the DHL Stormers to the URC title in 2022, Kitshoff will return to Cape Town next season after a short stint with Ulster.

Kitshoff revealed that he found out after the URC game against the Sharks in Durban, that Ulster wanted to release him, but added that he has enjoyed his time in Belfast and is now looking forward to reuniting with John Dobson and the Stormers.

“What Dobbo and the coaching staff have managed is to work out a plan to win big games with the team’s DNA in mind. The coaching staff is doing an incredibly good job.”
